"Skateboarding is my sport. I take my skateboard and skate in the streets and parks, trying to make progress. I learn special tricks and take part in street competitions, involving exciting and thrilling moments and including a good dose of extreme. I go in for it for pleasure, it is just the best way to spend pastime and work off my extra energy. For sure skateboarding is not only sport for me, it is the whole culture. It includes a lot of life socializing, nice friends and great fun. It gives me the increased sense of individuality and helps to acquire self-confidence.But some people argue that this sport is not very useful. They say it takes a lot of energy and time. It is dangerous because there is always a possibility of injury. As a result of this sport people have broken legs and arms. It's risky, giving little safety. Besides, you need a skateboard which is rather expensive and requires some complicated equipment as well.
May be that is why there are a lot of problems, connected with skateboarding. Negative attitude of our society is one of them. Some people do not approve of the appearance of skaters. Some people protest against skaters riding round squares and near monuments. But what should we do if in some cities there are no special places for skateboarding, and skaters should seek for places themselves. Because of this problem there are sometimes conflicts with guards, police and law enforcement agencies. The fact is the aim of skaters is not to rebel against traditional things of our society and not to break its laws, but to enjoy this kind of sport. We are young, we are not dangerous, we just want to develop ourselves this way, we have this right and we want our society to understand it, to accept our way of life and help us with problems instead of banning things."
Extreme sport… Are you for or against it?
